There is no “I” in TEAM!
Begin by asking the students to spell the word team. Do
you notice there is no “I” in the word team? That’s because to be a real team
player, you have to be more concerned with attaining the team’s goals than you
are with your individual performance on the team. Let’s take a basketball team,
if one player is always shooting the ball and trying to see how many points he
can score, even though he may be a great player, he may cause the team to lose.
Five people working together as a “team” can always score more points than one
person independently. When we are on a team, it is our responsibility to do our
best, but also do what is best for the team to insure we reach the team goals.
Ask yourself, what teams am I on, and am I being a true team player?
